Level 2 Award
Basic Life Support & Safe Use of an AED (RQF)
The Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulation of 1981 requires all employers in the United Kingdom to provide adequate resources and ability to provide immediate first aid should any individual become ill or injured in the work setting. This regulation also mandates conducting risk and hazard assessments as well as providing adequate first aid training to address the types of hazards identified within the entire workplace.
Intended Audience
The Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Safe Use of an External Automated Defibrillator (AED) is a nationally recognised and regulated qualification designed to provide individuals with the skills necessary to effectively provide Basic Life Support and safely use an AED.

Not only is this course a compliment to any work setting, it is also an ideal qualification for those who have friends or loved ones whom have a known history of heart disease or any other ailment which could result in sudden cardiac arrest – or for individuals interested in providing voluntary emergency interventions involving cardiac arrest in the public sector.
Course Overview
The Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Safe Use of an AED is conducted over a half-day period where students learn to skilfully manage unconsciousness and cardiac arrest. The skills learned in this course include (but are not limited to): management of unconsciousness; effective cardiopulmonary resuscitation; safe use of various AEDs, and “the chain of survival.”

This course can be delivered as a “standalone” course (minimum of 3h. 45 min.) or as a “bolt on” qualification for other courses which share the same assessment criteria.
Assessment Methods
Student assessments in this course are formative with three practical assessments conducted during the course. This course, as with all of Survival’s courses, is conducted in a friendly manner with positive reinforcement.

If any student fails to successfully complete the course (a rare event) remediation is offered.
